Your fingers will feel instantly comfortable on this SE Kestrel's five-ply maple and walnut neck, while it vibrates with endless sustain. You'll be positively thrilled by this PRS SE Kestrel bass guitar !
With its extremely balanced tone, alder is an oft-chosen tonewood for the electric bass guitar. Alder balances low, mid, and high frequencies with a highly resonant thump and sustain. Alder also provides a slightly pronounced upper midrange, enhancing the instrument's clarity. Neither too dark, nor too bright, you'll love the balanced tone of this popular tonewood.
Although composed primarily of maple, this PRS SE Kestrel's five-ply neck also benefits from the addition of walnut, which further enhances this bass guitar's tonal balance, while providing additional strength. This bass guitar's neck-through design allows trouble-free access to its entire fingerboard, in addition to providing everlasting, awe-inspiring sustain.
All PRS guitars and basses are designed for top-notch performance, right out of the case, and this SE Kestrel bass guitar is no exception. Constructed from top-notch tonewoods and components, PRS instruments carry on a commitment to quality that's been the brand's hallmark since 1985, when Paul Reed Smith himself started hand-building guitars for some of the most elite players in the world.

The SE Kestrel takes a traditional singlecoil bass platform and adds PRS’s fit, finish, and attention to detail, delivering a new take on a classic instrument. No matter the style or decade, the Kestrel can achieve every bass part you loved growing up. Kestrel (4B ‘S’) pickups are extremely punchy and focused, giving player the ability to walk a low-mid focused blues line, articulate a high-mid focused fretless style part rich with harmonics, nail the scooped midrange and sweet top-end sound slappers favor, and wield a razor sharp blistering rock bassline. This bass has growl to burn! Designed in PRS’s Maryland shop, the Kestrel’s alder body and modern neck-through construction provide sustain and evenly balanced tone. The maple/walnut neck has been meticulously designed, and the 34” scale length makes this an instantly comfortable bass for players old and new. A modern bridge allows you the choice of strings through the bridge or the body to yield even more tonal possibilities.
