The PRS SE Custom 24 "Floyd" sports a Mahogany body, delivering a warm sound with plenty of harmonic richness in the mid-range. Adorned with an amazing Flamed Maple veneer top, this instrument's beauty is guaranteed to inspire you to pick it up and play for hours on end.
Joining the body is a set Maple neck shaped to PRS' contemporary 'Wide Thin' profile. While the material adds plenty of top-end snap to give notes more immediacy, the unique neck carve provides an incredibly modern and playable feel. The neck is also topped with a silky-smooth Ebony fingerboard that offers a luxurious touch under the fingers.
The pickups in this guitar are based on the acclaimed 85/15 humbuckers that have been used in PRS' US-made Core Custom 24 models over the last few years. Paul Reed Smith famously said that these would have been the perfect pickups back in 1985, because they're hot enough to give you all of the punchy high-gain tones you'd ever need! They clean up beautifully too, especially when you the split their coils via the push/pull tone knob.
Although this particular model may be a part of the budget-friendly SE line, PRS spared no expense when it came to the instrument's hardware appointments. The Floyd Rose 1000 double-locking tremolo allows you to pull off divebombs, flutters and any whammy bar acrobatics you desire — without losing tune! At the other end of the guitar you’ll find a set of PRS-designed machine heads, made from high-quality materials that'll provide a lifetime of reliable use.
The Custom 24 is the definitive PRS guitar. Unveiled at the 1985 NAMM Show, this stellar six-string was PRS’ very first production model and it remains their most popular instrument even today. Distinctive for its flying bird fingerboard inlays, dual humbuckers, 24 frets, 25" scale and ergonomic contours — the Custom 24 is considered a modern classic among guitarists. This affordable SE version of the iconic Custom 24 possesses all of those signature features, with the addition of a Floyd Rose 1000 double-locking tremolo system that ensures rock-solid tuning stability. Finished in a gorgeous Charcoal Burst colour, this instrument's versatile sonics and remarkable playability makes it suitable for all styles — but metal in particular!
