The Rosewood fingerboard is a mainstay throughout the Standard range. Not much can beat the feeling of a beautiful, grainy Rosewood for effortless playing on the 22 rolled frets.
Its slim taper Mahogany neck provides the lightning-fast playability which the SG was designed for in the mid-20thcentury. It retains the matching resonant Mahogany trans finish body that offers huge sustain.
The SG is also still as light as ever. Great for high-octane live shows or comfortable playing for hours on end at home.
Gibson’s '60s Burstbucker pickups closely resemble the legendary tones of the classic era. They’re designed to faithfully recreate the PAF sound in a modern form. Their unbalanced coils give them the top-end bite and punchy tone.
Two tone and two volume knobs give you plenty of room to manoeuvre and shape a personal sound.
The Graph Tech nut and Grover tuners combination ensures stable tuning so you can go wild with bends, vibrato and aggressive playing. Gibson have equipped the SG with a super sturdy Tune-O-Matic bridge and an aluminium stopbar. No rusting, easy to clean and extreme comfort for the picking hand.
A classic stands the test of time. The USA-built Gibson SG Standard ’61 has more in common with its ancestor than ever before. It’s easy for Gibson when the original sounds as good as the SG ’61. Pack it with the same amount of classic US firepower and make it as comfortable to play as possible. You can’t go wrong.
